Franchising in Vietnam: a recent development in an attractive market
Wednesday, 29 June 2011 19:24

Around a hundred Vietnamese companies took part in the 'Top Franchise Asia–Vietnam 2011' seminar at the end of May.

Franchising is a recent concept in Vietnam. However, this country has seen an increase in the number of franchise networks over the last few years. There are now around 70 franchises in Vietnam, mostly run by foreign investors.

In addition to major foreign brands such as KFC, Loteria, Pizza Hut, Gloria Jean's Coffee and Coffee Bean, national brands such as Pho 24, Trung Nguyên coffee and Kinh Dô organic sugar cane juice and confectionery are making more and more ground.

Becoming a franchise is a sensible choice for Vietnamese companies’ development strategies. Vietnam is a highly populated country and its level of consumption is rising every day. In addition, its mass-market retail sector is expanding rapidly.

As a result, franchise development is becoming an increasingly obvious choice for Vietnamese entrepreneurs.
